In-state tuition at LSU

Hey everyone, I'm considering applying to LSU next year and I'm a resident of Louisiana. Does anyone know the current in-state tuition rate at LSU? Also, if there are any scholarships available for students from Louisiana, could you please let me know?

Hello! As of the 2024-2025 academic year, the in-state tuition rate at Louisiana State University (LSU) for full-time undergraduate students is approximately $11,962 per year.

This rate does not include fees, room and board, or other expenses, so the total cost of attendance will be higher. Also please keep in mind that tuition rates may change, so it's a good idea to check the LSU website for the most up-to-date information when you're preparing to apply.

In terms of scholarships for Louisiana residents, there are several options to explore. First, the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) is a state-funded scholarship program specifically for Louisiana residents who meet certain academic criteria.

The TOPS scholarship has four different types of awards—TOPS Opportunity, TOPS Performance, TOPS Honors, and TOPS Tech—that vary based on your high school GPA, ACT/SAT scores, and curriculum requirements.

In addition to TOPS, LSU offers a variety of institutional merit-based scholarships. To be considered for these scholarships, you need to apply to LSU by the priority admissions deadline, which is usually around December 15.

The LSU scholarships typically require a minimum GPA and test score to be eligible, and they're awarded based on your academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and leadership experiences. It's important to note that many of these scholarships are competitive, so meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee an award.

Lastly, don't forget to complete your FAFSA to see if you qualify for any need-based financial aid, which could help cover any remaining costs that aren't covered by scholarships. Good luck with your college search, and I hope this information is helpful! Go Tigers!
