What GPA is good for getting into Vanderbilt University?

Hey everyone! I'm currently a junior, and Vanderbilt University is one of my top-choice schools. I'm wondering what GPA is typically competitive for admission? Does anyone have any info on average accepted GPA or what range I should aim for? Thanks!

Hi! Vanderbilt University is an academically competitive institution, so having a strong GPA is important for your application. While there isn't a specific GPA cutoff, it's helpful to look at the middle 50% range of GPAs for accepted students to gauge where your GPA should be.

For Vanderbilt, the middle 50% range for high school GPAs of the enrolled Class of 2025 was 3.84 to 4.00 (on an unweighted 4.00 scale). This indicates that the majority of admitted students had a high school GPA of A- to A+. It would be ideal for your GPA to fall within this range to be competitive; however, keep in mind that the admissions process is holistic, and other factors like test scores, extracurriculars, essays, and recommendations will be taken into account.

To maximize your chances, aim for a GPA as close to or higher than 4.0 (on an unweighted scale) or within the top 10% of your class. If your GPA falls below this range, you can still be a strong applicant, but you'll need to make sure that other aspects of your application, like standardized test scores and extracurricular involvement, are strong to balance out a lower GPA.

Good luck in your college application process!
