SAT Test Breakdown

Hi everyone, I'm starting to prep for the SAT and was curious about what's in the test. Can you help me understand the sections and the kinds of questions I'll face? Thanks in advance!

Sure, I'd be happy to help you understand the structure of the digital SAT. As of spring 2024, the SAT is fully digital and consists of two sections: Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, and Math. Here's the breakdown:

1. Evidence-Based Reading and Writing: This section is further divided into two 32-minute modules, with a total of 54 questions. You'll have about 71 seconds per question. The questions in this section will focus on reading comprehension and interpreting passages from various sources, including those in literature, history, science, and social studies. You'll also encounter some questions relating to grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, and context-based vocabulary.

2. Math: This section consists of two 35-minute modules with a total of 44 questions. You'll have approximately 96 seconds per question, or a little over a minute and a half. The math questions cover topics such as algebra, problem-solving and data analysis, and advanced math (including geometry, trigonometry, and more complex algebraic concepts). There is no separate no-calculator section, so you can use your calculator on both math modules.

The digital SAT has a total duration of 134 minutes and consists of 98 questions.

To help you prepare, consider taking full-length practice tests, and make use of online resources to learn about test-taking strategies and review important concepts. The Bluebook™ app allows you to preview the digital SAT and take full-length practice tests.
