Do dual enrollment classes look good on Ivy League applications?

Hey all, my high school offers dual enrollment classes where I can take college courses while still in high school. Would participating in these classes be a positive addition to my Ivy League application, or should I focus on AP classes instead? Thanks for your help!

Hello! Dual enrollment classes can indeed be a valuable addition to your Ivy League application. These classes show dedication, commitment, and a desire to challenge yourself academically by taking a college-level course while still in high school. Additionally, it demonstrates your ability to multitask and manage your time effectively.

However, it's important to keep in mind that Ivy League institutions and other highly selective schools may still place a stronger emphasis on AP classes, due to them being nationally recognized. That being said, you could consider taking a combination of both AP and dual enrollment classes, emphasizing the subjects you are most passionate about.

In the end, the key to a successful application lies in demonstrating your academic interests, drive, and potential. So, take advantage of the opportunities available to you, whether it be dual enrollment, AP classes, or a mix of both. Good luck!
