UW vs. Ohio State: Which university should I go to?

I got accepted into both the University of Washington (UW) and Ohio State, but I'm having a difficult time making a decision. Can someone share their opinions on each school's academics, campus life, and internship/job opportunities?

First of all, congratulations on getting accepted into both the University of Washington (UW) and Ohio State! These are both excellent institutions, but they do have different strengths and opportunities that may help you decide which is the better fit for you.

Academics: UW is considered stronger in STEM fields, specifically computer science, engineering, and pre-med studies. On the other hand, Ohio State has a well-rounded selection of programs, with excellent offerings in business, communication, and political science, among others. It would be helpful to consider which major aligns more with your interests and career goals before making a decision.

Campus Life: The University of Washington is situated in Seattle, a vibrant city with a strong tech scene, bustling arts community, and diverse neighborhoods. The campus itself is picturesque, and you'll have access to numerous cultural attractions and outdoor activities, such as hiking and skiing. Conversely, Ohio State, located in Columbus, has a strong sports culture and a close-knit campus community. The city offers various cultural and recreational events while retaining a smaller-town feel compared to Seattle.

Internship/Job Opportunities: Both universities have solid connections to their local job markets. UW's proximity to companies like Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing can provide excellent internship and job opportunities, especially for students in the tech and engineering fields. Ohio State has numerous partnerships with businesses and organizations in Columbus and throughout Ohio, allowing students access to internships and job opportunities in various fields, from business to arts.

Ultimately, deciding between the University of Washington and Ohio State will require you to weigh the factors of academic focus, campus setting, and the job market according to your personal preferences and goals. It would also be helpful to visit each campus (virtually or in-person) and speak with current students or alumni to gather firsthand insights into each university's atmosphere and opportunities. Good luck with your decision!
