what sat scores are required for mit

Hello! I'm really interested in applying to MIT but I know they have high standards for SAT scores. Does anyone know what scores they're looking for? I'd appreciate any advice on what to aim for!

MIT is a highly selective institution, and although they don't have specific "required" SAT scores, successful applicants typically have very strong test results. To give you an idea, the middle 50% range of SAT scores for admitted students in recent years was around 1520-1580, with the 25th percentile being 1520 and the 75th percentile being 1580. This means that 50% of admitted students scored within this range, and it can be a helpful benchmark for you to aim for.

However, it's important to note that MIT practices a holistic admissions process, meaning your SAT score is just one factor they'll consider when reviewing your application. They'll also take into account your coursework, academic performance (such as grades and rigor), extracurricular activities, essays, and other factors that can demonstrate your potential to succeed at MIT.

While a high SAT score can definitely be an advantage in the admissions process, MIT has been known to admit students with a range of scores, as they focus on the overall strength and uniqueness of each applicant. If your SAT score is not in their typical admitted students range, make sure to enhance other aspects of your application, such as your extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

Keep in mind that testing policies might change, so it's a good idea to stay updated by checking their website or contacting their admissions office for any relevant information pertaining to the admission cycle you're applying to. Good luck!
