Would a 1400 SAT score be sufficient for getting into an Ivy League college?

Hi, I recently took the SAT and received a 1400. I'm not sure if that's a strong enough score to apply to Ivy League schools. Should I retake the test or focus on other parts of my application? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Congratulations on your 1400 SAT score! It's true that average SAT scores for Ivy League colleges tend to be higher, however, and your score will likely fall outside the middle 50% range at most, if not all Ivies.

If you believe you can improve your score and have time to prepare, it might be worth retaking the SAT. This could strengthen your application for those highly competitive schools and ensure you get your application read.

However, keep in mind that the Ivies are test-optional, so you may also consider applying without a score if your grades, extracurriculars, and essays are particularly strong, or if you have a hook like being a first-gen student or under-represented minority.

Ultimately, the decision of whether to retake the test depends on your individual situation and application. Good luck with your college admissions journey!
