What's the average SAT for UCSD?

Hello folks! I've been really interested in UCSD, but I'm not sure if my SAT scores are good enough. What's the typical SAT score for students who get into UCSD? Any advice on how to improve my application if my scores are lower?

As of the 2024-2025 application cycle, the University of California schools, including UCSD, are test-blind, meaning they do not consider SAT or ACT scores at all. Prior to becoming test-blind, the middle 50% SAT score range for admitted students at UCSD was around 1310-1510. However, since UCSD is now test-blind, your SAT score will not be a factor in their admissions process.

Since SAT scores are no longer relevant for your UCSD application, you should focus on other aspects of your application. These include your grades, course rigor, extracurricular activities, and personal insight essays. Strong academic performance and involvement in meaningful activities will help demonstrate your potential as a UCSD student.

To strengthen your application:

1. Maintain a high GPA and challenge yourself with rigorous courses, such as APs or honors classes, to show your commitment to academic excellence.

2. Pursue extracurricular activities that align with your interests and passions, especially ones where you can take on leadership roles, contribute to your community, or display a high level of skill.

3. Craft compelling personal insight essays that showcase your unique experiences, perspectives, and values. UCSD, like other UC schools, utilizes the UC Personal Insight Questions, which offer eight prompts for you to choose from. You are required to respond to four of them. Make sure your essays are well-written, authentic, and reveal more about who you are as a person and what you can contribute to the campus community.

By focusing on these elements of your application, you will be able to present a strong, well-rounded profile to the admissions committee at UCSD. Good luck with your application!
