UCI Grade Calculator - Is there a tool or method?

Hello! I've been looking into the University of California, Irvine (UCI) and I wanted to know if there's a specific grade calculator or method they use for calculating high school GPAs. I'd like to know my chances of getting in before I apply. Any help would be appreciated!

Hello! UCI, like other University of California (UC) schools, calculates an applicant's GPA using a specific UC system-wide method known as the "weighted and capped" GPA. Here's how you can calculate your weighted and capped GPA for UCI:

1. Consider only your sophomore and junior years' grades in A-G courses. A-G courses are approved college-prep courses that cover seven subject areas: history, English, mathematics, lab science, foreign language, visual and performing arts, and college-prep electives.

2. Assign the following point values for each grade: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, and F = 0.

3. For honors courses, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, and International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher Level (HL) courses, add 1 extra point per semester to the point value. However, UC schools only award extra points for up to 8 semesters (4 full-year courses) of honors/AP/IB coursework.

4. Divide the total number of points by the total number of A-G course semesters to calculate your UC GPA.

5. Keep in mind that a capped GPA means that even if you have more than 8 semesters of honors/AP/IB courses, your UC GPA cannot exceed 4.4.

Once you have your UC weighted and capped GPA, you can better understand how you compare academically to other applicants at UCI. Remember, GPA is just one factor in the holistic admissions process, so make sure to consider other aspects of your application, such as test scores, extracurriculars, and essays as well. Good luck!
