Out of state tuition at CU Boulder?

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about applying to the University of Colorado Boulder, but I'm not a resident of Colorado. Does anyone know what the out-of-state tuition is like? Are there any financial aid opportunities for out-of-state students?

Out-of-state tuition at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder) is significantly higher than in-state tuition. For the 2024-2025 academic year, the estimated out-of-state tuition and fees are around $43,624, whereas in-state tuition and fees are approximately $14,004. Keep in mind that these figures do not include room and board, books, and other living expenses.

As an out-of-state student, you might be eligible for various financial aid opportunities to help offset the higher tuition cost. CU Boulder offers merit-based scholarships for both in-state and out-of-state students, and some of these scholarships are specifically tailored for out-of-state students.

For example, the Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship and the President’s Scholarship are merit-based awards for out-of-state students, offering up to $25,000 per year and $50,000 per year, respectively, in funding toward tuition. You'll be automatically considered for these scholarships when you apply for admission, so there's no separate application required.

In addition to CU Boulder scholarships, you should also complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for federal financial aid, which may include grants, work-study, and loans. And of course, don't forget to explore private scholarships from organizations, foundations, and companies, as these can help cover some of the costs too. Good luck!
