How much weight do Ivy League schools give to AP scores?

Hi all, I've been working hard on my AP exams, and I'm wondering how much emphasis Ivy League schools put on AP scores when evaluating applicants. Are they as important as other factors like GPA and extracurricular activities? Thanks for your help!

Hey there! It's nice to know how dedicated you are to your AP exams. As for Ivy League schools, my child faced a similar question when applying to colleges. Ivy Leagues do consider AP scores, but they don't hold as much weight as factors like GPA, standardized test scores, or extracurricular activities.

AP scores help demonstrate your academic rigor and show that you're prepared for college-level work. However, they're typically not a major factor in admissions decisions. Admissions officers are more interested in seeing a well-rounded application that highlights your abilities, achievements, and what you can contribute to the school.

That said, continue aiming for high scores on your AP exams! They not only show that you're challenging yourself but can also help you earn college credits or even allow you to skip introductory courses. Just make sure you also focus on maintaining a strong GPA, participating in meaningful extracurriculars, and having impactful essays and recommendation letters. Best of luck!
