VCU SAT requirements

Hey everyone! I'm really interested in applying to Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and I was wondering what SAT requirements they have for incoming freshmen. Do they have a minimum score or any specific recommendations? Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hey! Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is test-optional for the current 2024-2025 application cycle. This means that you can choose to submit your SAT scores if you believe they complement your application, but you're not required to do so unless you're applying to the honors college. Admissions will place more emphasis on your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, essays, and other components of your application.

However, if you choose to submit your SAT scores, it's useful to know the middle 50% range of admitted students to have an idea of where you stand in comparison. For VCU, the middle 50% range for admitted students' SAT scores is typically around 1040-1290. This means that 25% of students scored below 1040, 25% scored above 1290, and 50% of students scored in between.

Keep in mind that being in the middle 50% range or above won't guarantee admission, as VCU uses a holistic review process, taking into account various aspects of your application to determine if you're a good fit for the university. If your SAT score is lower than the middle 50% range but you have a strong application overall, you might still want to submit your scores. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide whether submitting your SAT scores will strengthen your application.

Good luck with your application to VCU!
