What's a good class rank for Ivy League consideration?

Hey there, I'm in the top 10% of my class, but I'm not sure if that's good enough for Ivy League schools. What class rank do you think is considered competitive for these schools? I want to make sure I'm aiming high, but also being realistic. Thanks for your help!

Hello! It's great to see that you're in the top 10% of your class. While there's no strict class rank requirement for Ivy League schools, generally, they are looking for students who stand out academically in their class. Typically, students admitted to these schools are ranked in the top 5% or even higher.

However, it's important to remember that class rank is only one aspect of your application. The admissions committees in these elite institutions take a comprehensive review of your application, including your grades, extracurricular activities, essays, and recommendations, among other things. Also, some schools have a more significant emphasis on class rank, while others might prioritize other factors.

If your goal is an Ivy League school, it's certainly worth applying even if your class rank is not in the top 5%. With strong test scores, extracurricular involvement, an excellent resume, and well-crafted essays, you can make a compelling case for admission. Best of luck!
