What's the main difference between early action and regular decision?

I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should apply early action or regular decision to some colleges on my list. Can someone explain the main differences between the two and any pros or cons? I'm feeling a little stressed about my applications, so I'd really appreciate any advice you guys have. Thanks!

Hi there! It's great to see that you're being proactive with your college applications. I can understand how the process can be a bit overwhelming, but not to worry, I'm here to help you out.

The main difference between Early Action (EA) and Regular Decision (RD) is the deadline by which you submit your application. EA is an option that allows you to apply earlier, generally around November (dates vary by school). RD, on the other hand, has deadlines typically set around January. One advantage of applying EA is that you'll get your decision typically in December or January, which can be a stress reliever if you're accepted and have the college as a strong contending option.

It's important to note that EA is non-binding, meaning if you're accepted, you're not obligated to attend that school and still have until May 1st to make your decision. This can be helpful in giving you more time to explore and compare your college options. Good luck with your applications!
