What's the room and board situation like at Princeton?

Hey guys! I got accepted to Princeton (yay!) and I'm curious about the room and board situation on campus. What kind of housing options are available, and how is the dining experience? Any current students or alumni willing to share their experiences?

Congratulations on your acceptance to Princeton! As for room and board, Princeton is quite unique in its residential college system. When you enroll, you will be randomly assigned to one of the six residential colleges (Butler, First, Forbes, Mathey, Rockefeller, and Whitman). As a freshman and sophomore, you will live in your residential college, which will provide you with a supportive community that makes it easier to make friends and navigate life on campus.

The housing options vary across colleges and within colleges as well. Typically, you'll be placed in a double or a triple room with roommates during your freshman year. Some colleges have suite-style living arrangements, while others have traditional dormitories. Junior and senior students have the option to continue living in the residential colleges or move to upperclassmen-only housing options like apartments, suites, and annexes.

Regarding dining, Princeton offers a comprehensive meal plan centered around the dining halls, which are located within the residential colleges. Each dining hall has a distinct character, and the food can vary. The meal plan is flexible, and you can choose which plan best suits your needs. In addition to the dining halls, there are numerous other dining options on campus, such as cafes, coffee shops, and snack bars. The Frist Campus Center is a hub for grabbing quick bites and provides a variety of options for students depending on their preferences.

Overall, Princeton's housing and dining system is structured to promote a sense of community and make it easy for students to build connections. Although your specific experience may depend on the residential college you're assigned to and your individual preferences, many students have positive experiences with Princeton's room and board offerings.
