Is Boston University a research-focused institution?

Hey everyone, I'm considering applying to Boston University, but I'm not sure if it's known as a research university. I want to pursue biomedical engineering and I'm really interested in research opportunities. Can anyone give me some insight on whether BU is a research-focused institution or not? Thank you!

Hi there! Boston University is indeed a research-intensive institution and offers a wealth of research opportunities for its students. The College of Engineering, particularly the Biomedical Engineering department, is well-regarded and continues to grow rapidly.

The university is classified as an R1 research institution, meaning it has the highest level of research activity. Furthermore, the Rajen Kilachand Center for Integrated Life Sciences & Engineering is dedicated to driving innovative interdisciplinary research, with biomedical engineering being one of the areas of focus.

In addition to the research facilities on campus, BU's location in Boston, a major hub for biotechnology and healthcare, provides direct access to internships, co-ops, and research positions in the industry. I'm confident that if you choose to study at Boston University, you will find plenty of opportunities to pursue your passion in biomedical engineering research. Best of luck with your college search!
