How can I find out my unweighted GPA?

Hey all, I am trying to figure out what my unweighted GPA is. Do I calculate it myself or is there an official source where I can find it? Thanks!

You can find your unweighted GPA through a couple of different methods:

1. Official source: If your school calculates and reports both weighted and unweighted GPAs, you can find your unweighted GPA on your official transcript or report card. You can request your transcript from your school's guidance office or access it through your school's online student portal, if they have one.

2. Calculate it yourself: If your school only reports a weighted GPA or you'd like to calculate it independently, you can easily do so by following these steps:

- Determine the point value for each letter grade in your school's grading scale. Usually, unweighted GPAs are calculated on a 4.0 scale, where A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, and F = 0. However, your school's grading scale might be different, so confirm the correct values beforehand.

- For each course you've taken, convert the final letter grade into the corresponding point value using the grading scale.

- Add up the point values for all your courses.

- Divide the total sum by the number of courses you've taken. This will give you your unweighted GPA.

Keep in mind, some schools may have variations in calculating GPA, such as omitting certain courses or adding bonus points for honors and AP classes even when calculating unweighted GPAs. It's essential to know your school's specific method and apply it accordingly. If you're unsure about any aspect, consult your guidance counselor.

Good luck!
