Does practicing yoga count as an extracurricular activity for college?

I've been practicing yoga consistently for a couple of years and I'm wondering if this could be listed as an extracurricular activity on my college applications. Has anyone included yoga or similar hobbies on their application before? Thank you!

Definitely! Practicing yoga can be considered an extracurricular activity for college applications. Colleges are looking for a holistic view of the applicant, which means they're interested in activities that reflect your interests, passions, and character. Yoga promotes discipline, focus, and wellness, and mentioning this in your application can show a different side of your personality.

My own child listed their daily morning meditation practice on their college applications, showing dedication to mental health and self-care. It provided a unique aspect to their activities list, so don't hesitate to include your yoga practice. If you have any achievements in yoga, such as participating in competitions or completing a yoga teacher training, it would be valuable to highlight those as well. Remember, colleges want to learn more about you as a person, and your commitment to yoga is an important part of who you are. Good luck!
