How does Indiana University's engineering program rank?

Hey all, prospective engineering major here. I'm looking at Indiana University for undergrad. Does anyone know how their engineering program ranks nationally?

Indiana University isn't predominantly known for its engineering programs. Actually, their Bloomington campus doesn't offer an Undergraduate degree in traditional branches of engineering like Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering. However, Indiana University does have a notable School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, which offers degrees in Informatics, Computer Science, Data Science, and Intelligent Systems Engineering (ISE).

ISE is a relatively new program at IU, having only started in 2016. Because of its newness, the program doesn't yet have a large alumni network that could contribute to its national reputation, and hence, it currently may not be highly ranked in traditional national rankings. Nonetheless, the focus on "intelligent systems" does imply a more modern curriculum that can prepare you for emerging engineering fields.

While rankings are helpful, it's crucial to consider other aspects of the university's environment and if those suit your career goals and overall educational needs. For example, have a look at the program's specific curriculum, check if they offer any specializations that interest you, confirm the kind of internship or co-op opportunities that they provide, and look at their job placement statistics.

Remember, a fulfilling and successful college experience is often less about the name or rank of the institution and more about the alignment between you and the specific program.
