Hey y'all, I'm highly interested in environmental engineering and want to prioritize my applications accordingly. Do you have any recommendations for undergrad schools that have the best programs in this field? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

Hello!

First off, it's great that you're looking into Environmental Engineering programs! When it comes to strong programs in this field, a few schools come to mind.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has an excellent Civil and Environmental Engineering program. Notably, the program offers opportunities for research which could be valuable if you're interested in that.

Stanford University also has a renowned Environmental Engineering program, and it's known for its focus on sustainability and system-level environmental problems. They have uniquely designed their curriculum from a multidisciplinary perspective, giving you a comprehensive understanding of the field.

The University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) also has a top-tier Environmental Engineering program. They provide a strong foundation in physical, chemical, and biological processes, and allow students to specialize in one area for their senior year.

In terms of public institutions, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is highly ranked and has a long-standing reputation for excellence. UIUC's environmental engineering program is geared towards interdisciplinary approaches for sustainable engineering solutions.

Keep in mind, though, that a successful career in Environmental Engineering isn't solely determined by the prestige of the program. When selecting a college, consider other factors like financial aid, location, size of the school, extracurricular activities, and overall fit.

Reach out to students currently enrolled in these programs and see if their experiences align with what you're looking for. Remember, the best program for you will provide not only a strong academic foundation but also the right environment for you to grow personally and professionally. Good luck with your college search!
