Trying to figure out where Butler University is located

Hey y'all, pardon the ignorance here, but where is Butler University located? I'm considering it for college applications, but I'd like to know more about the surrounding area and local vibe first!

Certainly, there's no such thing as a "dumb" question when you're exploring college options! Butler University is in Indianapolis, Indiana - specifically, it's situated in a residential area called Butler-Tarkington.

Indianapolis is a city larger than some might think. It's the capital of Indiana and the third most populous city in the Midwest region of the United States. It offers the advantages of city life such as cultural events, music, sports (like the famous Indianapolis 500!), museums, and a multitude of eateries - but also access to green spaces. The White River State Park downtown, for instance, is a lovely open space right amidst the city hustle.

As for the neighborhood around Butler, Butler-Tarkington is generally quiet and charmingly Midwestern, with a nice mix of locals and students. It's safe, pedestrian-friendly, and has several small, independent shops and restaurants.

Before you decide, if possible, try to visit the campus and check out the rest of the city. This would give you a firsthand feel of the campus culture and the local vibe. But of course, due to the current circumstances, you can also utilize online resources like Google Maps and virtual campus tours to have a look around. Good luck with your college search!
