Interior Design at CSU Long Beach?

Hi everyone! I'm really into Interior Design, and CSU Long Beach has caught my attention. Does anybody have any experience with the Interior Design program there? How are the professors and classes? Really appreciate any info!

Hello! It's fantastic that you're considering the Interior Design program at CSU Long Beach. The Design department at CSU Long Beach is indeed quite well-regarded.

One of the highlights of the program is the faculty. Many professors have extensive experience in the field, and they often work on real-world projects. This bridges the gap between academics and actual professional practice, giving you a more practical understanding.

The program is quite intensive, with a strong emphasis on creativity, technical skills, and professional preparedness. You'll be working with software programs like SketchUp and AutoCAD, which are important tools in the interior design industry.

CSU Long Beach's design courses also cover a wide range of topics such as design principles, space planning, lighting, and building codes among others. You’ll also be encouraged to participate in design competitions and internships which can be a great way to gain practical experience and make industry connections.

Remember, though, that the program can be quite rigorous, and many students report spending long hours on studio work. But if you're truly passionate about interior design and ready for the challenge, it could be a great fit for you. Plus, being in Long Beach gives you access to a thriving arts and design community which can be a great source of inspiration and networking opportunities.

Trying to reach out directly to the CSU Long Beach design department or attend one of their information sessions can give you a better sense of the program. You could also consider arranging a campus visit to check out the facilities firsthand and perhaps even meet with faculty or students. Regardless, best of luck with the application process!
