Wildlife Biology at CSU?

Hey all, recently I've been considering wildlife biology as my major and was wondering if anyone could share their experience at CSU. How's the department and faculty? Are there research opportunities available?

First off, congrats on choosing such a unique and exciting field! The Department of Fish, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology at CSU is known for its commitment to understanding and managing terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The faculty is comprised of dedicated scientists and educators who are well-known in their respective fields. They've worked in a variety of environments, from forests to marine ecosystems, and bring this depth of knowledge to the classroom.

Research is a big component of their program, with a multitude of opportunities for undergraduate students to get involved. Faculty often incorporate their ongoing research into their courses, offering you the chance to see firsthand how theories are applied in the field. Students also have access to the Foothills Fishery Unit, the Fish Reproduction Laboratory, and other relevant facilities for conducting their own research.

Apart from classroom learning, the program provides opportunities like internships and study abroad programs focused on conservation. Take advantage of networking opportunities with alumni and professionals in the field to gain insights and establish meaningful connections.

One thing to consider is that it's a challenging program, and the courses can be demanding. However, students often find the work rewarding because it has clear applications in wildlife conservation and management. Hope this helps, and best of luck!
