Surveying Division 2 Men's Lacrosse Schools

Hi everyone, I've been playing lacrosse since freshman year and now that I'm a junior, I'm starting to think about college. Specifically, I am interested in Division 2 men's lacrosse schools. Can anyone offer advice or recommendations regarding these schools? More importantly, what factors should I consider while choosing?

When looking into Division 2 men's lacrosse schools, there are quite a few factors to consider. Here are some of the key ones:

1. Academic Fit: Remember that you're a student-athlete; the student comes before the athlete. Be sure you're choosing a school that fits your academic needs and has strong programs for your intended major and career path.

2. Athletic Fit: Consider your skill level and how you'll fit into the team. Look at the team's standing, coach history, style of play, roster make-up, and how they've performed throughout the years.

3. Financial Fit: Consider the cost of the institutions and what scholarships or aid may be available. Some schools may provide athletic scholarships, while others may have academic scholarships you could qualify for.

4. Campus Culture & Environment: You want to choose a school where you will feel comfortable and thrive both athletically and academically.

5. Location: Does the lacrosse season suit the climate of the location and is the location somewhere you'd enjoy living? Would you prefer to study closer to home or are you open to attending college in different part of the country?

Some renowned Division 2 schools with competitive lacrosse programs include Le Moyne College, Limestone College, and University of Tampa. These might be good starting points for your research. But bear in mind that each school will have its own set of admission requirements and standards, so be sure assess these against your own academic and athletic profile.

Doing some online research about the current team, the coach's philosophy, or even reaching out to current players or alums can give you a better idea of the school's lacrosse program.

Remember to have a balanced list of reach, target, and safety schools in terms of both athletic recruitment and academics.

Best of luck with your college search! Remember, the final decision should be a combination of where you'll be happy, successful, and secure academically and athletically.
