Looking for Film Colleges in Massachusetts

Hey y'all, I hope you're doing well. I'm from out of state but I'm looking into Massachusetts for film school. Any recommendations for colleges with strong film programs? Thanks!

Absolutely, you have some excellent options in Massachusetts! One of the top choices would be Emerson College, located in Boston. It's widely recognized for its strong film program - particularly their Visual & Media Arts major. You'll get a solid foundation in both visual media and storytelling, with plenty of practical experience.

Another great option is Boston University. The BU College of Communication offers a Film & Television major, where students get to learn writing, production, theory, and criticism. It's a comprehensive program that offers a broad range of courses and a robust alumni network in the film industry.

Then there's Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt). They have a strong Film/Video BFA that focuses on independent filmmaking. It's an interdisciplinary program that allows students to explore various areas of film making, including animation, experimental films and narrative & documentary filmmaking.

Finally, let's not overlook Hampshire College, in Amherst. It's a bit of a unique choice because Hampshire has an open curriculum. You can create your own concentration, which could heavily center on film, in the context of their Media Arts and Sciences program.

These schools each have their advantages and unique programs, so your choice should ultimately depend on the kind of experience and focus you're looking for in a film program. I recommend doing some research on each to see which aligns best with your personal interests and career goals.
