I hope everyone is surviving junior year okay, haha. In my endless college research extravaganza, I've been considering engineering programs and Fordham is on my list. However, I can't seem to find much about their engineering ranking. Does anyone know something about this?
Fordham University doesn't have a standalone engineering program. Their main offerings are within the liberal arts and sciences. However, they do offer a 3-2 Combined Plan Engineering Program in partnership with Columbia University and Case Western Reserve University.
In this program, you spend three years at Fordham studying within a chosen major and then transfer for two years to either Case Western Reserve or Columbia, earning a BA from Fordham and a BS in an engineering discipline from the partnering university. This may or may not work for you, depending on whether you are interested in spending a substantial portion of your college career at Fordham before moving to a different university for your engineering focus.
In terms of ranking, because Fordham doesn't have a standalone engineering department, you wouldn't find a specific ranking for it. However, the partner universities - Columbia University and Case Western Reserve University - both have highly-regarded engineering programs. Columbia is generally ranked within the top 15 engineering programs nationally, and Case Western Reserve often lands in the top 50.
This program can offer a unique opportunity to explore broader studies in the liberal arts while also focusing on engineering at a specialized institution as you progress in your college journey. But, keep in mind that admission to the engineering portion of this program at the partnered institution is not guaranteed and you'll typically need to maintain a certain GPA while at Fordham to be eligible.
