Top Photography Colleges?

Hi there, looking for some advice from y'all. As a junior, my current passion is photography and I want to pursue it further in college. So, could you recommend some of the top colleges out there that offer excellent programs in photography?

Absolutely! When it comes to photography, there are several incredible colleges that have strong programs.

Parsons School of Design, which is part of The New School in New York City, is known for its outstanding photography program. Their Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography helps students to develop their personal vision and practical skills while exposing them to the latest technological resources.

Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) is another excellent choice. It provides a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Photography. RISD's photography courses have historically placed a heavy emphasis on the technical and conceptual elements of photography, preparing students for a variety of career paths.

Columbia College in Chicago offers a Bachelor's degree in Photography with a focus on contemporary practices and critical theory. Students can pursue a general study of photography or specialize in areas like commercial photography or fine art photography.

The University of New Mexico in Albuquerque provides a unique focus on "interdisciplinary experimentation," wherein students are encouraged to explore the intersections between photography and other art forms as part of their Bachelor of Art in Photography degree program.

These are just a few suggestions, but there are many more excellent photography programs out there! As you research each program, focus on what matters to you—whether that's the curriculum, the faculty experience, the coursework emphasis (practical skills vs. theoretical knowledge), or the resources and facilities offered. Consider reaching out to the school admissions offices or department heads for more information on the respective program specifics. Good luck in your journey towards becoming a photographer!
