Liberal Arts at Baruch

Hey fam, I'm considering Baruch College for their liberal arts program! If you've taken any liberal arts courses there, could you please share your experience with me? How's the teaching quality and course content?

Response: Hi there! While I haven't personally taken any liberal arts courses at Baruch College, I have spoken with students who have and done some research on the topic. Although Baruch is primarily known for its business programs, it seems that the school also has quite a strong liberal arts component.

Course content appears diverse, covering a broad range of subjects. You can take courses ranging from cultural anthropology to modern European history to creative writing. From what I've heard, many students appreciate the depth and complexity of these courses, reporting that they challenge them to think critically and broaden their perspectives.

As for the quality of teaching, it seems that there is generally a favorable consensus. Many students reported having professors who were knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate about their subjects. However, like any institution, there may also be a few professors whose teaching styles may not suit every student. Thankfully, you can check out professor ratings on websites like RateMyProfessors to have a better idea before class registration.

Something else to keep in mind is that Baruch's resources and focus might lean more towards their business programs, given it is a specialty of theirs. But this doesn't necessarily negate the strength of their liberal arts courses; it's just a consideration you might want to bear in mind.

Overall, the experiences shared by students suggest that Baruch's liberal arts program is quite solid, albeit possibly overshadowed by the well-renowned business programs. Be sure to research a bit to ensure the school's liberal arts program specifically aligns with your academic and professional goals. And of course, try to reach out to current Baruch students or alumni for direct insights if possible. Best of luck with your decision-making process!
