Where exactly is Princeton University located?

Hey everyone. I'm an international student and have started researching U.S colleges. Princeton University is on my list but I'm not really sure where it's located. Can anyone tell me more about the city, the local culture, and if it's a good place for international students?

Princeton University is located in the town of Princeton, New Jersey, which is on the northeast cost of the United States. The town is often referred to as a college town because the university is a prominent part of the local community. With a population of approximately 30,000, it's a small town with a historic feel and vibrant local culture but is far from being isolated.

Princeton offers a balance between town and gown. Nestled in this small, sophisticated town, you'll find a blend of historic sites, boutique shopping, art galleries, bookstores, and a variety of restaurants. It's a town rich in history, with a broad variety of architectural styles from different eras, and famous for its ivy-covered, collegiate gothic-style university buildings.

Despite being small, the town is not isolated. You're about an hour's train ride away from two of the biggest cities in the U.S – New York City to the north, and Philadelphia to the south. So, while Princeton provides a tranquil, academic environment, big-city attractions are easily accessible.

As for international students, Princeton enjoys a diverse student body and actively encourages applications from international students – they make up over 12% of the student population. The university's Davis International Center offers specialized support for international students, including resources to help with adjusting to life in the U.S, understanding immigration regulations, and engaging with social, cultural, and educational programming.

Overall, Princeton provides a supportive, welcoming environment for international students and offers a unique balance of a small-town setting with easy access to major metropolitan areas.
