SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry Athletics?

I'm very active in my high school's athletics program and plan to continue in college. How is the athletics program at SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry? Are they D1, D2, D3? Do they have good facilities, etc?

SUNY Environmental Science and Forestry, also known as SUNY ESF, competes in Division III athletics under the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA), not in the NCAA (which is where you'd find the more commonly known D1, D2, and D3 divisions). DIII sports have a lower level of competitive intensity than D1 or D2, so if you're expecting high-intensity competition, keep that in mind.

SUNY ESF fields several teams, including men's and women's soccer, cross country, and basketball, as well as men's golf and women's softball. There's also a co-ed timber sports team, which is an atypical offering and very fitting given SUNY ESF's focus on environmental and forestry education!

As for facilities, SUNY ESF doesn't have its own dedicated athletics infrastructure. However, owing to its close partnership with Syracuse University, located just across the street, ESF athletes often utilize Syracuse facilities for their sports, which are generally quite well-regarded. These include the Carrier Dome for indoor sports and several outdoor facilities.

If you're passionate about continuing athletics in college and you're interested in environment and forestry-focused studies, SUNY ESF could be a great fit for you. Just make sure that you're comfortable with the level of competition and the use of Syracuse University facilities.
