Massachusetts Schools for Engineering

Hey peeps! I'm starting to narrow down my college search and looking particularly at Massachusetts for engineering. MIT and Harvard are obviously big names, but beyond those, what are some hidden gems for engineering?

Sure, Massachusetts is home to several excellent engineering programs outside of MIT and Harvard.

1. Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) is a technical school that offers strong engineering programs. Particularly notable are their programs designed for project-based learning, which offer hands-on, real-world experience alongside traditional coursework.

2. University of Massachusetts, Amherst—known as UMass Amherst—has a college of engineering that offers several robust engineering programs. With large scale research projects and plenty of resources available to students, it's definitely worth considering.

3. Northeastern University in Boston is known for its co-op program, which is fully integrated into the engineering curriculum. This program allows students to gain professional experience on full-time work assignments.

4. Tufts University also offers highly-ranked engineering programs. Their school of Engineering offers several programs, with Biomedical Engineering being particularly strong.

5. Boston University's College of Engineering is one more for consideration. Its Biomedical, Electrical, and Mechanical engineering programs are highly rated.

6. Olin College is a small, highly specialized school providing engineering and related programs. It's known for its unique, project-based curriculum that incorporates entrepreneurship and design thinking, right from the first year.

Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all answer here. It's important to take into account factors like size of the school, location, teaching style, resources, and culture while making the decision.
