Decent psychology programs in New York colleges?

As the title suggests, I'd like to major in psychology and I'm currently looking at colleges in New York. Can anyone suggest schools that have strong psychology programs? Preferably ones that offer a lot of research opportunities.

New York offers a wide array of top-notch schools with strong psychology programs. Among them, Columbia University in Manhattan boasts an outstanding psychology department. It offers a very research-centered curriculum, and provides opportunities to work in a variety of labs. Columbia students can conduct research in everything from cognitive neuroscience to behavioral decision-making.

New York University (NYU) is another worthy option. Its Psychology department is acclaimed for a comprehensive curriculum and a variety of research labs. It's also known for its resources in exploring specialized areas of psychology, including cognition and perception, and social psychology, among others.

Also noteworthy is Barnard College which, while a women's college, offers the benefits of a tight-knit community in addition to the resources of the larger Columbia University (it's affiliated with Columbia). This includes taking advantage of Columbia's psychology research opportunities.

The University at Buffalo (SUNY) might be a good choice if you're not only looking at private universities. Its psychology department is recognized for its research programs in Clinical, Cognitive, and Social-Personality Psychology.

Each of these schools have distinct environments and student cultures, so I'd recommend also considering other factors beyond the academic offerings when making your choice—things like location, student life, size of the student body, etc. Each of them invites visitors (virtual or in-person depending on the situation) to learn about the campus culture, which could give you insights into the fit and feel of the school. Researching the faculty, curriculum, and opportunities that each psychology program offers will also be beneficial in making your decision.
