Top Psychology Schools in New York?

Hi, I'm Lucy. I really want to major in psychology and ideally I'm hoping to stay in New York state for college. Could anyone point me towards some good Psychology programs in NY?

Hello Lucy! It's impressive to see that you've already decided on your major. New York is home to a multitude of universities with strong psychology programs.

Columbia University is especially noteworthy. It has an esteemed psychology department where you can choose from different sub-disciplines such as cognitive, social, and developmental psychology.

New York University (NYU) is another great choice, with a vibrant psychology department offering a broad curriculum that spans numerous topics within the field.

The University at Buffalo (SUNY) also has an excellent Psychology department that invites students to engage in research, fieldwork, and internship opportunities.

In addition to the well-known universities, there are a plethora of liberal arts colleges in New York with strong psychology programs. These include Vassar College and Colgate University, among others.

It's important to remember that while these programs are noteworthy, the best program for you will depend on your specific interests within psychology and your college preferences more broadly (like size of school, class size, etc.). Be sure to investigate each program's course offerings, faculty, research opportunities, graduation requirements, and any special programs (like honors programs, etc.). This will help you find the psychology program that's the perfect fit for you! Good luck with your search.
