What are some of the best Division 3 basketball schools?

Hi guys, I'm wondering what are some of the top D3 colleges for basketball? I want to continue my basketball career but also maintain balance with my academics and life. Any suggestions or insights?

The decision to play basketball while pursuing your academic goals is a respectable one and it's great that you already seem to have an eye on maintaining a balance. To answer your question, Division III is home to some colleges with strong basketball programs as well as solid academics.

First off, let's consider the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota. They have a strong men's and women's basketball team. In addition, they offer a variety of majors, and the university environment is one that encourages sports alongside academics.

A second school to look at would be Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Their men's basketball team has made multiple appearances at the NCAA tournament and they also maintain a focus on academics. Swarthmore is one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country and their curriculum is comprehensive and rigorous.

Amherst College in Massachusetts is another institution known for its basketball. Their men's team has enjoyed multiple NCAA D3 championships. Amherst's commitment to meet full demonstrated financial need of all admitted students and their extensive liberal arts programs make it an attractive option for student-athletes.

Another option is Wisconsin-Whitewater. They've been consistently good in Men's and Women's basketball. As for academics, they offer a broad and diverse range of programs for undergraduates.

The Williams College Ephs also have a renowned basketball program. On the academic side, Williams is ranked as one of the top liberal arts colleges by U.S. News and World Report. Thousands of course options are available across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.

Lastly, the Washington University in St. Louis Bears have a strong record in D3 basketball. WUSTL also offers a rich, interdisciplinary curriculum with lots of undergraduate research opportunities.

Remember, finding the right college for you is about more than just basketball. Consider factors such as the college's academic programs, location, size, and culture, in addition to the strength of their basketball program. Weigh all these factors in your decision, and remember to speak with college coaches to understand what commitment to their programs would entail. All of these schools maintain a strong focus on the "student" part of the term "student-athlete", but it will be beneficial to have these discussions to ensure the balance you're seeking.
