Texas A&M Admissions Requirements

Hey guys, next year senior here. I'm seriously considering applying to Texas A&M. I've done a bit of research, but I'm still unsure about the specific admission requirements. Does anyone have some insight on the prerequisites they expect? Can be GPA, ECs, course load, anything.

Sure, happy to help! Texas A&M uses a review called holistic admission, where they consider multiple factors, not just your GPA or test scores. Here's a deeper dive into some of the factors they consider:

1. Academic Achievement: This includes your GPA, course rigor (how challenging your classes were), and class rank, if your school provides it. Traditionally, Texas A&M has placed a lot of emphasis on class rank in their admissions process. However, they do not disclose exact GPA or class rank thresholds.

2. SAT/ACT Scores: For the 2024-2025 application cycle, Texas A&M is still considering SAT or ACT scores. They do not publish minimum score requirements, but you can look at the middle 50% range of admitted students for reference. For example, the middle 50% SAT score range for freshmen admitted for Fall 2024 is 1160-1380.

3. Extracurriculars: Texas A&M also looks at your extracurricular activities. Engagement in leadership roles, community service, work experiences, and awards can all enhance your application.

4. Admission Essays: Essays are another important part of your application. You'll have the chance to share more about your experiences, ambitions, and values here. Be sure to tell a compelling story that fits with their essay prompts.

5. State of Residency: Like other state schools, Texas A&M does favor Texas residents because of its mandate to serve the state's population.

6. High School Curriculum: The university requires four years of English, math, and science, three years of a foreign language, two and a half years of social science, one year of fine arts, and a half year of physical education.

Remember, these components give a comprehensive view of you as a candidate, and none can single-handedly secure or deny your admission. Good luck in the application process!
