How hard is it to get accepted into UAB?

Been looking at UAB among some other schools as I'm starting the college search process, wondering if anyone has an idea of how difficult it is to get accepted there? What's their acceptance rate? Any insight would be helpful.

The University of Alabama at Birmingham, also known as UAB, is generally considered to be moderately selective. For the most recent admissions cycle, their acceptance rate sat at around 80-85%. So, this means that about 8 out of 10 students who apply are typically accepted, which speaks to the level of access and opportunity at this school.

Keep in mind that meeting the average admissions requirements doesn't guarantee an acceptance, it merely means your chances are more favorable. While the exact GPA for admittance can vary year by year, the average high school GPA of the admitted freshman class at UAB was around a 3.79 on the 4.0 scale indicating that primarily B+ students are accepted and ultimately attend.

If you are interested in applying, I recommend deeply looking at UAB's specific academic offerings, student life, and see how it aligns with your goals and interests. Find ways to show that you're not just a good fit for UAB, but that UAB is a good fit for you in your application and essays.

Also, remember that standardized test scores like the SAT and ACT are part of the application process at UAB. The average SAT score at this institution is around 1300, and ACT is roughly 27. But, considering test scores merely comprise one part of your application, stellar grades and extracurriculars can go a long way toward compensating for test scores that are less than ideal.

All the best with your college search process!
