Rankings in Undergrad Engineering: How important are they?

So, I've decided to study engineering in college, but I'm torn between my love for a top-ranked but expensive college and a more affordable one with a lesser-known engineering program. Can anyone share their thoughts on how much the undergraduate engineering rankings really matter?

In terms of landing your first job or internship, rankings can play a role, as companies might recruit directly from top-ranked engineering institutions. However, the factors that have the most impact on your future success will be your knowledge, skills, and experiences. Employers value hands-on, practical experience, which can be obtained from reputed programs, but also through internships, co-op programs, or project-based learning at other schools as well.

Considering a more affordable college can be a great option if the difference in rankings isn't colossal. Engineering is still a demanding and reputable field, regardless of where you study. You might graduate with far less debt at a more affordable school, allowing you to invest in your future more comfortably.
