There are several universities renowned for their strong accounting programs. Each of these universities has a distinguished faculty and offers a wide range of opportunities for students interested in pursuing accounting.

1. University of Texas at Austin: The McCombs School of Business at UT Austin consistently ranks high for its undergraduate accounting program. The accounting department is known for its rigorous curriculum and its high CPA exam pass rate.

2. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign: This university is also recognized for its high-quality accounting program. Here, you'll find a strong emphasis on both theoretical and practical accounting education, which prepares graduates well for a variety of professional roles in accounting.

3. University of Pennsylvania: The Wharton School at UPenn provides exposure to cutting-edge accounting research and prepares its students for high-level management and consulting roles in accounting. Plus, as an Ivy League institution, the networking opportunities available can be significant.

4. Brigham Young University: BYU's Marriott School of Business also has an excellent reputation for its accounting program. It's recognized for its focus on ethics in accounting and its exceptional CPA exam pass rate.

5. University of Notre Dame: The Mendoza College of Business at Notre Dame offers a comprehensive accounting education that emphasizes ethical responsibility as much as technical expertise.

6. University of Southern California: The Leventhal School of Accounting at USC offers a bachelor’s degree with varied electives and a strong alumni network.

Keep in mind, what makes a college "the best" for accounting—or any major—will depend on your individual goals, interests, and learning style. You might want to reach out to the admissions departments of these schools and ask for more information about their programs, speak to current students, or do some more in-depth research to determine which program will be the best fit for you.
