Where to Study SAT-specific Terminology?

Hey guys, hope y'all are doing good. As I'm going through these SAT practice tests, I'm noticing I'm strugglin' a bit with these terms and it's killin' my Reading score. Is there like, a focus book or something that goes over this stuff? Thanks y'all.

Hello! That's a great question. Studying SAT-specific terminology can indeed strengthen your test performance, particularly in the Reading and Writing sections. While I do not know of a "focus book" specifically, there are several resources you can use.

Firstly, consider utilizing SAT prep books. They typically include comprehensive vocabulary lists and offer extensive practice for reading and understanding complex texts with unfamiliar words. Kaplan's SAT Prep books and The Critical Reader by Erica Meltzer are often recommended resources. Besides, as they cover various other aspects of SAT, they can be beneficial in the overall prep.

Secondly, there are online resources and apps devoted to SAT vocabulary. For instance, Khan Academy provides free SAT practice that is directly connected with the College Board, the makers of the SAT. Their resources include practice questions, full-length tests, and tailored study schedules. Also, Vocabulary.com has an SAT Word Lists section that can help you.

Lastly, practice is crucial. The more you expose yourself to unfamiliar words, the better you'll do on the SAT. Reading widely - books, articles, essays - especially in varied subjects can help you encounter SAT-type vocabulary in real-life contexts and enhance comprehension.

Remember, you're not just memorizing these words for the SAT; you're learning them to improve your communication skills and to perform well in college where a strong vocabulary is beneficial. Keep on practicing, and your scores will improve over time. Good luck on your prep!
