Is Mary Washington a Division 1 School?

Hi there! I'm currently doing my college search and University of Mary Washington has come up a couple of times. I'm an athlete and competing at college level is a massive part of my plan. So, I need to know, does Mary Washington have Division 1 athletic teams?

Actually, no, the University of Mary Washington is not a Division I school. They compete in the NCAA's Division III and are a member of the Coast to Coast Athletic Conference (C2C), formerly known as the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC). Division III institutions, including Mary Washington, primarily focus on the impact of athletics on the athletes themselves, rather than the spectators, and seek to provide student-athletes a comprehensive collegiate experience.

While Division III schools do not offer athletic scholarships, they emphasize the value of participating in sport during your college experience. The discipline developed, time management skills, and the balance between athletics, academics, and other extracurricular activities are all cherished components of Division III athletics.

Even though Mary Washington doesn't offer Division I sports, participating in Division III sports can still be quite a fulfilling experience. If you do choose to attend Mary Washington, you'll still have the opportunity to compete and grow as an athlete while also enjoying a diverse range of academic and other extracurricular opportunities.
