Colleges with Strong Lacrosse Programs in Maryland

I'm a junior right now and part of a varsity lacrosse team in high school. I want to continue playing in college, preferably in Maryland. Can anyone recommend colleges in Maryland known for their lacrosse teams? Lacrosse is my passion and I can’t see myself going to a college without a strong lacrosse presence.

Absolutely, I'd be more than happy to provide you with some information on schools in Maryland with strong Lacrosse programs.

1. Johns Hopkins University: This university's Blue Jays men's and women's lacrosse teams have a rich history of success with many championships to their name. Competing in the Big Ten Conference, they have consistently been ranked high in the NCAA Division I and have consistently made appearances in the NCAA tournament.

2. University of Maryland, College Park: Both the men’s and women’s lacrosse teams are considered to be highly competitive in the Big Ten Conference. The Terps have a consistently high-ranking lacrosse program and have won multiple national championships in recent years.

3. Loyola University Maryland: At the NCAA Division I level, Loyola's men's team competes in the Patriot League and their women’s team competes in the American East Conference. Both teams have had a presence in the NCAA tournament.

4. Salisbury University: For those interested in NCAA Division III athletics, Salisbury's men's and women's lacrosse teams have long-standing records of success, both nationally and in the Capital Athletic Conference.

5. Towson University: The men's lacrosse team competes in the Colonial Athletic Association and the women's team competes in the Colonial Athletic Association as well. The Tigers have made multiple NCAA tournament appearances over the years.

A couple of notable second-tier teams in Maryland are the Naval Academy and Stevenson University. Both have had successful years in their respective division.

As you proceed with your college search, I recommend you also considering each school's overall academic environment and fit into your career goals besides lacrosse. It's great to have a passion for the sport, but remember, college is also about education and future career preparation. You want to choose a school where you'll thrive personally, socially, and academically, as well as athletically.

Good luck as you continue your lacrosse journey at the collegiate level!
