Redlands' Conservatory of Music

Hello everyone! I'm thinking about applying to Redlands University and their music program is a big draw for me. Does anyone know anything about their Conservatory of Music? I'm curious about the quality of instruction, available facilities, and student experiences.

Redlands University's School of Music is known for maintaining high academic standards while providing a multitude of opportunities for performance and individual creativity. It's accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, so you can be assured of its quality of instruction.

The faculty is made up of both internationally noted performers and scholars, bringing a wide range of experiences and expertise into the classroom. Their backgrounds range from music history to instrumental technique, and they are known for their high level of engagement and approachability.

In terms of facilities, watch out for the Frederick Loewe Performance Hall. It is a 404-seat concert hall equipped with professional-quality recording and video facilities. There is also the Watchorn Hall, which houses a beautiful Casavant Freres pipe organ. There are several other practice rooms and smaller performance spaces, and students have access to these for individual practice and ensemble rehearsals.

Students typically describe their experience positively, highlighting the individual attention from faculty and the extensive opportunities for performance in a variety of genre. As part of the curriculum, all students are required to perform in ensembles, offering immense opportunities to gain real-world experience.

Remember, Redlands fosters a very collaborative learning environment, so if you're someone who thrives in cooperative rather than competitive music environments, this could be an excellent fit. Be prepared to spend considerable time practicing and performing music while also investing the time for the necessary academic components major requires. Good luck with your decision!
