Is UC Riverside a Safe Campus?

Hi folks! UC Riverside seems a pretty good fit for me but I'm really uncertain about its campus safety. Can anyone studying there or familiar with the campus comment on its safety? Thanks!

UC Riverside is generally considered a safe campus by many of its students. Located in Riverside, California, it prioritizes student safety and wellbeing with measures like well-lit paths, emergency call boxes stationed throughout campus, and 24/7 campus police patrols.

However, like at any college, incidents can and do sometimes occur. It's important that students stay aware of their surroundings and take advantage of the resources provided by the university to ensure their own safety. UC Riverside offers escort services for students walking alone at night and also has a system to send out safety alerts in the event of a potential threat on or near campus.

As with any city or urban area, there may be certain neighborhoods nearby that are less safe than others. It's always a good idea to familiarize yourself with the surrounding area and ask locals or campus police for their advice.

Remember, safety can be subjective and personal to each individual – what feels safe for one person might not for another. Hence, if possible, visiting could be a great way to get a feel for the campus and the surrounding area.
