Hey guys! Rising Junior here. I absolutely have my heart set on Texas A&M for college. I've been hearing all sorts of stuff about their SAT requirements. Does anyone have clarity on what I should ideally aim for on my SAT to have a chance there?
Absolutely, it's always a good idea to aim high with your SAT scores to boost your chances of admission. Note that as of right now, Texas A&M isn't test-optional. They are requiring all applicants to submit an SAT or ACT score for the 2024-2025 application cycle.
The middle 50% of SAT scores for recently admitted Texas A&M students typically falls somewhere between 1170-1360. This means that half of the students admitted have scores within this range. So, to be competitive, ideally, you want your score to fall towards the higher end of this range, or even exceed it.
That said, remember that metrics like SAT scores are just one part of your application. Your GPA, course rigor, essays, extracurricular activities, leadership roles, and other factors all play a significant role in their admissions decision. Keep these in mind as you prepare to apply.
One piece of advice as you approach taking the SAT: aim to take it at least twice. Many students see an increase in their scores the second time around. Use the first test as a gauge to see where you stand and what areas you need to work on for the next round. Enjoy your preparations and all the best on your college application journey!
