Can anyone share details about East Tennessee State University admissions?

Hey y'all! I'm a junior who's been looking at some of the universities in my area and East Tennessee State University caught my eye. Does anybody on here have any insight into their admissions process? I'm particularly interested to hear about what sort of GPA they're looking for, ECs they value, and the general vibe of the applicant pool. Thanks ahead of time, I appreciate it!

In general, East Tennessee State University takes a holistic admissions approach, meaning they consider various aspects of your application including your academic achievement, extracurricular activities (ECs), and personal qualities.

For academics, as of the latest data, the average admitted student GPA is about 3.5. Still, it's beneficial to aim higher if you can. ETSU accepts both SAT and ACT scores. For ACTs, the average range is from 20-26, and for the SATs, it is between 1020 and 1200. However, remember that these are averages, and acceptance can range outside these average scores.

Extracurricular activities are a valuable part of your application, especially if they highlight leadership, initiative, passion, and dedication. In general, ETSU doesn't specify exact ECs they value over others. It largely depends on how you've engaged with them. Take for instance, if you've participated in a variety of clubs but have clear leadership in one or two or have demonstrated significant growth and achievement in an activity—and that aligns with your academic and career goals—it could add value to your profile.

As for the general vibe of the applicant pool, students are reportedly friendly and involved in a variety of activities both on and off-campus. ETSU has a wide variety of clubs and organizations, which could give you an idea about the student body there.

Remember to take the time to craft thoughtful responses to any essay prompts and consider visiting the campus or attending virtual events if you can, as it may give you a clearer idea about the school's fit and clues to what they value as they build their incoming class. Also, you should apply before the priority date (Dec 1) to be considered for scholarships. Good luck!
