Decoding a 24 ACT Score

Hello folks! My ACT score is 24 and I'm a bit unsure about how good or bad it is in context of college admissions. Can anyone help me out?

Sure! Understanding your ACT score can definitely be a bit tricky. A score of 24 places you above the national average, which is typically around 20 or 21. This means that you've scored better than a good percentage of students taking the test nationally, which is definitely a positive!

However, when it comes to college admissions, it also depends on the schools you're interested in. More selective colleges often have higher average ACT scores. For example, if you're aiming for a highly selective college the average ACT score might hover around 30 to 34.

If your list includes less selective colleges, a 24 could be right in the range, if not above average! You can check the average ACT score at a college by looking up "[College Name] average ACT score" or "[College Name] ACT score range"—this will give you a sense of where your score falls for that particular school.

Remember, though, that a test score is just one part of your application. Colleges also consider your coursework and grades, extracurricular involvement, essays, letters of recommendation, and more. It's all part of a holistic review process. Hope this helps! You've done a good job on ACT, don't forget to focus on other parts of your application as well.
