Converting ACT scores to SAT - Help?

Going into my senior year, I've taken the ACT but not the SAT. Got a pretty decent ACT score. I'm just wondering how my ACT score translates to an SAT score? Or does it even matter, most schools don't have a strong preference for one over the other, right?

The conversion between ACT and SAT scores is not exactly 1-to-1, but there are concordance tables available that provide a corresponding SAT score range for each ACT score. These can give you a rough idea of how your ACT score might translate into an SAT score.

You're correct that most colleges don't have a preference for the SAT or ACT. Generally speaking, they accept both interchangeably. The key is that they want to see how well you can perform in a standardized testing environment. Regardless of which test you take, they focus more on your score percentile - how well you did relative to other test-takers.

Regarding your specific question about conversion between scores, I can provide a range as an example: an ACT score of 30 corresponds roughly to an SAT score range of 1390 to 1410. For exact conversions, I would suggest referring directly to the official ACT-SAT Concordance Table released by the College Board and ACT.

Remember, these are approximations and not exactly how you would've scored had you taken the SAT. But they are useful in giving you a relative understanding of your performance.
