Understanding Acceptance Rates for Universities

Hey guys, I'm trying to narrow down my college options and would like to have a wide range of options. Anyone in here got a clue about the current acceptance rate for Cal State LA? Also, what factors play a significant role in their admission decision process?

The acceptance rate at California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) is quite friendly compared to other more selective institutions. As of the last admission cycle, it was around 66%, which means that for every 100 applications received, about 66 students were accepted. However, this is subject to change year by year based on the number and quality of applications received.

As far as the admissions process is concerned, Cal State LA, like other CSU schools, takes a numbers-based approach to admissions. Your high school GPA and the difficulty of the classes you take are generally the most important factors in their decision process. Since CSU schools are test-blind for the 2024-2025 application cycle, Cal State LA will not consider your SAT or ACT scores in their admissions process.

They also consider your experiences outside of the classroom, such as your extracurricular activities, but these factors play a less significant role than at other universities that use a more holistic review process.

Remember, though, that just because Cal State LA has a fairly high acceptance rate compared to other schools doesn’t mean it’s a guarantee that you’ll get in. Make sure you meet the school's academic requirements and adequately communicate your interests and achievements in your application.
