What's a decent ACT Pass Score?

Hey all, just looking for a bit of advice here. Can anyone share what's considered a decent ACT pass score? I feel like there's so much emphasis placed on the SAT and I just wanted to get a sense of how I'm doing with my ACT preparation.

The ACT is scored on a scale of 1 to 36, with 36 being a perfect score. Generally speaking, a "decent" or average ACT score is around 20 to 21. However, if you're aiming to be a competitive applicant for more selective colleges, you'll likely need to target a higher score. For most highly selective schools, ACT scores typically hover in the 30-34 range, and for the absolute top tier schools, they tend to be in the 34-36 range.

Therefore, whether your score is considered 'decent' or not really depends on your college aspirations. It's always a good idea to research the average ACT scores at the colleges you're interested in. This will give you a better sense of the score range that might make you a competitive applicant for those specific institutions.

Remember, a strong ACT score can definitely help your application, but it's only one piece of the puzzle. Your academic performance, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation are also major components of your application that colleges will consider.
