How ACT scores equate to SAT scores?

Hey everyone, I decided to take the ACT but I've noticed a lot of college admission info talks about SAT scores. Is there a way or a tool to figure out what my ACT score would be equivalent to in SAT scores? Would this be useful, or should I just stick to thinking about my ACT score? Thanks!

There are indeed conversion tables to help you compare SAT and ACT scores, as the two tests use different scoring scales. For instance, a composite ACT score of 30 can be roughly equivalent to an SAT score of 1370. These conversions aren't always perfect, but they can provide a ballpark figure.

Sure, it may be beneficial to use a conversion tool when you're looking at colleges – especially if a school you're interested in mainly talks about their typical SAT scores, and you've taken the ACT. Or if you have a goal SAT score in mind but are taking ACT, the conversion table would help you to set your goal for ACT score.

Keep in mind though, colleges that accept both the SAT and ACT will be familiar with the scoring range for both tests, and they'll be able to consider your ACT score without any conversion. They understand that these are two distinct exams and they don't create direct comparisons between them. Also, both scores represent your readiness for college in their own unique ways.

Remember to remain focused on performing your best on whichever test you've chosen. And, in the end, remember that your standardized test score is just one part of your application; factors like your high school GPA, extracurricular activities, and your essays are just as important, if not more!
